HSR Training (Safe Work NSW)

HOSTA runs two types of initial 5 Day HSR Training courses:

  • ACTU 5-Day HSR Training (SafeWork NSW)
  • ACTU 5-Day HSR Training (Commonwealth)

Please note that if you are a state based employee (i.e. a you work for a private company in NSW or are a NSW Public servant), you will need to complete the Safe Work NSW course.

If you are a Commonwealth HSR (i.e. you are a federal government employee or your workplace is a Comcare Licensee), you will need to complete the Commonwealth Course.

If you are unsure, please contact us to discuss which course is best suited.

In line with section 72 of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Act) training is to be chosen by the HSR (or deputy HSR) following consultation. The person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) must allow this training and meet all associated costs. Consultation is over arrangements for attending the course and issues such as; extra travel costs and time, any accommodation costs. Not the choice of training provider.
